After two years of cancellations due to COVID restrictions, the much-anticipated Daisy National BB Gun Championship Match (Daisy Nationals) returns to the Rogers Convention Center and Embassy Suites Hotel in Rogers, Ark., June 30-July 3.
This 5-meter, four-position BB gun shooting match awards the National Championship to the top BB Gun Team and Individual, and typically attracts teams from across the country. Teams consist of five shooters, with two alternates who compete in their own match. Competitors ages 8 to 15 aim at paper targets set at 5-meters, from Standing, Kneeling, Sitting and Prone shooting positions. All competitors use the Daisy Model 499B – the world’s most-accurate 5-meter competition BB Gun.
This year sees the return of the 10-meter air rifle match coinciding with the BB gun match. The 10-meter match is shot with the Daisy 599 air rifle.
“We can have more than 70 teams from around the country converging on Rogers for this event,” said Lawrence Taylor, Daisy Public Relations Director. “It really hurt to have to cancel the last two years. We can’t wait to welcome the teams back.”
The Daisy Nationals is not just a marksmanship match – 25 percent of each competitor’s final score comes from a gun and safety test taken before the shooting starts. Competitors look forward to the side contests imbedded within the match – the painted gun contest, costume and T-shirt contests and car decoration contests – and events like the Barter Bar, when everyone brings items from their home states to trade.
Early registration actually begins at 1 p.m. on June 29, and continues on the 30th at 7 a.m. Practice sessions, the Painted Gun contest and Opening Ceremonies will be held on July 1. July 2 and 3 are competition days.
